on the back, incised. In the central diagonal swirl is "Tennysoniana" and ELAINE in very large block letters shaded with horizontal hatching.

Marks:
Impressed to look incised: On the back upper right shoulder is "BROOME. Sculp / 1876"; on the back of the base at the bottom is a molded incised-looking "OTT & BREWER / MANUFACTURES. / TRENTON NJ, Copyrighted" [note, NOT manufacturers; the misspelling is consistent over other pieces]
