on bottom: pencil number "257" is lot number of auction where purchased by Jacobs. Jacobs accession number 51-84-G1 in ink on bottom. G1 indicates it was purchased at the FIRST auction of the collection of parian of Dr. Charles Green, NYC, 1951.

Raised "ribbon" mark on bottom: consisting of a loop of ribbon, "U.S.P." on upper section, below which is "9." and on right section is "No. 14." 14 represents the pattern, Pond Lily. The 9 probably represents a size, since all designs were made in various sizes.

Provenance: Purchased by Grace and Robert Jacobs at the first sale of the collection of Dr. Charles Green, NYC, 1951
