Interpretation: In celebration of the 2008 election of President Barack Obama, textile printing factories across Africa manufactured textiles featuring his likeness. In 2009, Obama chose Ghana for his first visit to the African continent as president. Made in Ghana, this cloth commemorates that visit. A pattern of miniaturized symbols in the form of an Asante royal stool, the paramount symbol for Asante leadership, celebrates Obama's role as an important global leader as well as his close familial ties to the African continent.
